Chicagoland marathon in Busse woods

On May 5th, the Schaumburg Emergency Radio Team (Schaumburg EMA) will provide medical communications for runners in the the Chicagoland Marathon. This event is held annually in Busse Woods and is a pre-qualifier for the major marathons such as the Boston, New York, and Chicago. Incident Management is supplied by the Schaumburg FD, security is provided by the Schaumburg, Elk Grove, and Forestry PDs, and medical services are provided by the Schaumburg Medical Reserve Corps.

Hams provide tactical communications to establish “ground truth” on the course and to communicate the need for emergency services and medical transportation.  Be in place by 0600 and wrap up around 1430.
